Young Ambassadors and Young Leaders in Service

My name is George Billingham and have been a Member of Evesham Vale Lions since 1980 and held office as Treasurer Secretary and President at Club level - Zone and Region Chairman at District level.

Evesham Vale Lions have been involved with Lions Youth Programmes for many years and I was pleased to be appointed District Officer – Young Ambassadors two years ago.

Young Ambassadors

The Young Ambassadors Award was first started in this District many years back and was known as the Lions Youth Award. It was further developed into Lions MD Programme and finally renamed Lions Clubs International Young Ambassadors of the 21st Century.

Each Lions Club is invited to find young people in their Community who do voluntary work age range 16 to 19 and are prepared to complete an Application. The requirements for the Candidates are to complete the Application and Bursary Forms and then to move forward via local contests to the Annual District Final. At each stage the Candidates are Judged on their voluntary work their personality and their presentation skills.

There are no financial rewards to the Candidate but the winner at District will receive £ 500 Bursary for the Project and the winner at MD Final will receive an additional £ 1000 Bursary and entrance to the Europa Competition. The District Final is on Sunday 20th November 2011 at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport. The MD Final is at the Village Hotel Dudley 17th to 19th February 2011.

Full details of the Young Ambassadors Competition and Application Forms are available on download from Lions Clubs MD105 website or from the District Officer.
